Fresno State Bulldogs Start Season Strong in San Jose

The Fresno State Bowling Bulldogs kicked off the season with two Tier 2 tournament victories this past weekend in San Jose, CA.

Day 1 – Hardwick Pattern (44 ft, 3.2:1)

The team bowled five traditional games on the 44’ Hardwick Pattern and maintained steady play throughout the morning before closing strong with two big games to seal the win by 167 pins over San Jose State.

Leading the way was sophomore Zach Oliver-Davis, who averaged 215 to finish 2nd overall, followed by senior Neil Weinstein averaging 204 for 6th place.

Day 2 – Carter Pattern (39 ft, 2.39:1)

On Sunday, the Bulldogs competed on the 39’ Carter Pattern. Once again, their scores improved as the day went on. Heading into the position round, the team held a 121-pin lead over San Jose State. They finished the weekend with their best four-game Baker set, clinching their second consecutive win by 244 pins.

This time, Neil Weinstein led the way with a 221 average to take 1st place, followed by Zach Oliver-Davis in 2nd (203 avg). Sophomore Dominic Ortiz also joined the top 10, averaging 193 for 6th place.
