Day 1:
From the Desk of Coach Preble:
Day 1 complete from the Royal Pin Western Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana where the Bulldogs competed in the 55th Annual Hoosier Classic (the biggest Tier 1 collegiate tournament in the country). The qualifying round consists of 6 regular team games today and 15 Baker team games tomorrow, with each day being played on a different oil pattern. After the completion of qualifying, the top 8 teams move on to a bracket final.
Today’s six games were competed on a 40-foot pattern with 34 mils of oil and a ratio of 1.5-1. Halfway through the day, we found ourselves sitting 52nd out of the 78 teams competing, at 274 under for the first 3 games. After a solid game 4 of 1009, the Dogs recorded their highest team game of the season, 1193! A game 6 score of 1014 left the Bulldogs at 58 under for the 6 games and in 24th place, 160 pins out of the cut. 15 baker games left in the morning to make a move.
Today the bulldogs were led by Senior Spencer Norvell who shot a 6-game total of 1275 (213 average) for 36th individually and Sophomore Vincent Luong who had a 6-game total of 1214 (202 average, 75th). Kudos also to Nikki Samano who continued her strong play following the Vegas tournaments last month finishing with 1200 for the six games (200 average, 93rd place).
Equipment in play at the Hoosier:
Spencer Norvell – Hammer Envy Tour and Brunswick’s Knockout Bruiser Stealth
Vincent Luong- Brunswick Mindset, Hammer Black Widow Hybrid and Track Sensor Pearl.
Clarissa Samano – Brunswick Mindset and Brunswick Teal Rhino Pro.
Even though they couldn’t be there in person, we still greatly appreciate the support from our Parents from afar. Thanks to the Norvell’s for providing money for snacks/drinks over the weekend, and to the Weinstein’s for picking up the tab for Team Dinner tonight.
Scoring updates available tomorrow with the Hoosier Classic Facebook page.
As always, we couldn’t do this without the support from our sponsors, The Brunswick Corporation, Genesis and Vise, Inc.
Go Bulldogs!

Day 2:
Front the Desk of Coach Chin:
Day 2 of the 55th Annual Hoosier Classic has concluded and for the Bulldogs, it was a strugglefest on a very tough 37ft (1:1 pattern). Today was consisted of trying fill to frames and not giving up the pocket. Not only did this pattern provide us some struggles, the whole field struggled. Only 1 team on 78 present averaged 200 today for the 15 baker games. At the end, we finished in 29th this weekend!
The bulldogs are currently traveling back home today and ready to get back to work in San Jose next weekend! Then ultimately, ITC sectionals in March!
We like to thank our sponsors, Brunswick, Vise, Genesis and Zealo Gear for your continued support! Also, thank you to Bulldogs families and friends for their help this week, cannot do this without them! See you in San Jose! GO BULLDOGS!!
