The Fresno State Bulldogs Varsity Bowling Team competed this past weekend at the 52nd West Coast Collegiate Team Championships I & II, hosted at our very own Bulldog Bowl in Fresno, CA.
Saturday – Long Pattern #4 (43 ft)
The Bulldogs performed well during the qualifying rounds, averaging 192.0 on a challenging lane condition. The team earned a strong second-place finish, just 107 pins behind Grand Canyon University. Congratulations to GCU on securing the top spot and earning the first-place power points.
In the Round of 8 of the elimination Bracket, Fresno State faced UNLV’s JV squad in a race-to-two elimination match. The Bulldogs delivered two solid games to advance to the semifinals, where they met San Jose State’s varsity team. Both teams struggled early, with SJSU taking Game 1, 183–166. Game 2 came down to the final frame, with SJSU edging out the Bulldogs by a single pin, 224–223. San Jose State went on to defeat UNLV’s varsity team to claim the bracket title. Congratulations to the Spartans on their win.
Top Bulldog performers included:
Dominic Ortiz (So.) – 213.2 average (4th overall)
Zach Oliver-Davis (So.) – 203.0 average (8th overall)
Neil Weinstein (Sr.) – 202.0 average (10th overall)
Sunday – Short Pattern #6 (35 ft)
Sunday’s match-play tournament presented a demanding pattern that challenged the entire field—our Bulldogs especially. Although the team made adjustments and found momentum during Baker play later in the day, they ultimately finished in 6th place, marking their toughest result of the season. Congratulations to San Jose State on their second win of the weekend!
