The Bulldogs recently returned from competing in the first two Tier 1 tournaments of the season in Las Vegas. The first tournament was the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational which is named after our program founder and hosted by the Fresno State Bowling Team. As always, Mathieu Gee, Brittany Tierney and Chris Michael did an excellent job (between all the giggling) managing two very long days of competition.
The Varsity Bulldogs finished 11th out of a strong field of 47 teams. The Bulldogs were led by senior, Spencer Norvell who continued his strong season averaging 205 for the 9 games, finishing in 11th place individually. Finishing 24 spots behind Spencer with an average of 191 was senior Nolan Byers who seems to get stronger with each event.
The Junior Varsity Bulldogs finished in 7th place and were led by Senior Max Leval who averaged 175.
The second Tier 1 is called the Collegiate Shoot-Out and its hosted by Frank Barnhart. The first day featured 6 regular team games followed by 16 baker games the second day. For this tournament, sophomore, Vincent Luong led the Bulldogs with an average of 206 placing 37th place individually. Two places back in the standings, was senior Spencer Norvell, also averaging 206 for the 6 games.
The second tournament scoring pace was significantly higher than the GCLVI and unfortunately our Bulldogs struggled to keep pace ending the first Day in 19th place out of the 47 varsity teams.
Day 2 of the Shootout included 16 Baker games. The Bulldogs continued to struggle on Day 2 eventually finishing in 22nd overall. Definitely a disappointment after the strong performance at the Carlson.
The Junior Varsity once again finished in 7th place. Leading the JV was senior Max Leval, 190 average and junior Briyan Lucatero with a 176 average.
Equipment in play for these two tournaments…..

Big thank you’s got out to all of our fans in the stands…..it’s really nice to have the support we’ve enjoyed this season. Special thank you to Steven Norvell for providing the live streaming, to the Boudakian, Weinstein & Luong families for the treats and gifts and to the Norvell Family for the treats and for hosting our Dinner Tuesday night.
As always, we couldn’t do this without our sponsors, The Brunswick Corporation, Genesis and Vise Inc.
Next up for the Bulldogs is a trip to Arizona the weekend of January 13-14th.
Go Bulldogs!
